A Valentine’s day post to our artisans

Valentine’s day is around the corner and is a day to show and share the love. This date is not only for the couples as many believe. You can love your friends; your family and you can also love and feel passionate about the work you do everyday. That is why today we have chosen to honor those who make Graciela Huam possible, the ones behind the production of our garments: our artisans. Because we know how much love and passion they put into every piece developed and produced. And we want you to know them a bit better.

We had the pleasure of talking to them today about what they feel for their job and what they enjoy the most. Here are their stories:

Irma is 63 and has been working in knitwear since she was a teenager.

  1. What do you love the most about you do? Is it a passion for you?

That I can make garments I’ve never thought I could before. Yes, I feel very passionate about my job because it is not repetitive, you are always doing something different.

  1. How do you feel knowing that your garments are sold in other parts of the world?

I feel empowered because an Andean woman is not used to believe they can produce something to be commercialized in other countries and important markets.

  1. How do you feel working in Graciela Huam?

I feel very proud to belong to a team where our art is valued.

  1. How important is for you the collaboration among coworkers?

It is very important because it helps us make true long-lasting friends and teaches us to cooperate. It also makes me realize how valuable other people think my work is.

Omar is the artisan in charge of the samples and what he likes the most about his job is the dedication to quality he puts on everything he makes.

  1. What do you love the most about you do? Is it a passion for you?

I love my job, the creation of every garment, all the effort each of the weavers put to deliver the best quality possible. And yes, I am very passionate about it.

  1. How do you feel knowing that your garments are sold in other parts of the world?

I feel so happy to know that pieces produced in my factory are exported to other countries. Knowing that we dress people in other parts of the world is very satisfying.

  1. How do you feel working in Graciela Huam?

I feel so good working there, because there is a lot of understanding in the creative process, always looking to make the client happy.

  1. How important is for you the collaboration among coworkers?

It’s very important, each of us has an important task to fulfill to produce the garment. We all put the effort to make the perfect piece.

Francisco -GH

Francisco works developing the knitwear samples in their first stages. He has been a part of this world for over 25 years.

It’s super important to build fellowship with your coworkers to be able to work well.

Now that you know a little bit about what they think, we want to emphasize how much they mean to us. Without their hard work and constant contribution, none of this would be possible. Graciela Huam is more than just a brand, it’s a team and a family. It’s a group of people working towards the same goal: to bring the world our creations and doing it sustainably.

In this Valentine’s week, we will have special a discount on the pieces, Irma, Omar, and Francisco made, so check out our online store and use the code BOOLOVEYOU to get a 25% OFF.

Finally, we want to wish you a lovely Valentine’s day with your special someone, with your friends, family, or whoever you are celebrating with. And if you are celebrating alone, take the day to pamper yourself a little!

Until the next post,
